Moodys Musings
What a card full of twist and turns and some additions to not only the roster but to the Gold Rush Pay Per Riew and thats before we get to all the backstage craziness, is it bad if there is almost as much fighting backstage as there is in the ring. But with Gold Rush coming up this next card is gonna get even crazier and will also be a huge boon for the tag team division.
Also this all comes from a place of everything from fandom to writer boy and narrative fascinaton so spoiler warning if I give the office ideas or let the cat outta the bag. just one mans take on things and maybe things to come. All in fun and maybe even with a few obvious biases here and there.
Kyūkyoku no Kyōjin vs. Daniel Slaine
Winner: Slaine
Reasoning: Ummm excuse me, I think someone got the main event, and the opening match switched around. I mean seriously how isn't this the main event and maybe even a Gold Rush big belt spoiler as the only names I'd add to that mix would be Chase and Austin. Why not Drake? We will get to that later. But on to this match, and before you asked no I am not just giving it to Slaine for his shout out, or cause mad man has a win over me. That all said this is the match of the night, and gonna be the hardest one to call in my opinion. Kyu besides having a flawless record so far has also seem till now to have to be in multi person matches to even get the appearance of a challenge. So it was almost easy enough to expect him to keep that up here. But Slaine. Well, is gonna make the Madman have to work for it, and dig down deep an yea I'm talking from personal experience. This match should only be aired after the watershed.. I think I used that right. Because it ain't gonna be pretty, sure to be bloody, and when the irresistible force meets the immovable object I gotta side with the one I know better. But I could easily see this being the most demanded of rematches and the start of a long program between the two to be sure. There is one outside element I can imagine we might have to worry about and thats Kyu has a few more friends backstage then Slaine does, and while one doesn't want anything to spoil this goodness. Gotta at least acknowledge it.
Winner: Marcus
Reason: Ziyal ok thats the DS9 character that came to mind when I first saw Marcus name, a tragic character at that, and one of the reasons DS9 isn't to be overlooked among the Star Trek Series to watch.... distraction out of the way talk about the match. While the debate over whether the Invicta student showed up the more experienced Sheena or the Madpony did the rookie a solid is the subject of no small scholarly debate Marcus will get a chance to put any doubt about her ability or what got her here, her deserving to be here to rest with what would be technically an upset here. But Hewley will be looking to either defend her position, or regain ground lost from the beating she took in her opening match. So this maybe one of the most even matches on the card. So why bid on Marcus? Cause she has the madponys vote of confidence and thats good enough for me... Well that and I tend to root for the underdog. But Hewley better either prove me wrong, or make her work for it, or Ana might send out her backstage monsters to give her a Luchadora send off.
Andre & Jermaine Ford vs. Kill-Joy-Chao
Winner: Kill Joy chan
Reason: So why the unknown unknown over a team with some measure of history? The name, the look, I mean the Sakura schoolgirl thing isn't my chosen fetish but I can understand why it is one. But mostly a coin toss, and the fact that Kill Joy Chan is a trio while Ford is a tag, and while that doesn't mean the numbers or that the trio will play dirty or even have to, no reason to not allow for the possibility. The real highlight here is along with a later match this is the chance for the Invicta tag team division to shine, and put there best foot forward toward Gold Rush. So here is hoping I am wrong and that this is a closer match then the coin called it.
Remy Benson vs. Ashley Cross
Winner: Benson
Reason: Ok I confess iwas kinda looking forward to the triple threat and with us denied that I'm a little upset this is still a thing.. But judging from everything from the work put into it to the numbers game I have to side with The Bensons. While clearly internally hoping to see Cross show up and avenge herself as at the day she has lost the most footing of any of them. Another close match until Nichols and Perrie are remembered as possible run its ,, they did attack on the debut show. Maybe Luchadora could return to even the odds. But its gonna take some work by all involved to keep the fans invested in this one. Git it on girls.
Titania vs. Austin Reynolds
Winner: Reynolds
Reason: Before you ask no not because in her first two apearances The Queen Of Avalon left two of my favs carried out. But because Reynolds we have heard from, we have seen, and we have seen pull of one hell of an upset over top tier talent namely Drake Connors, and put on a valiant effort against Daniel Slaine another top tier talent, and when those are your career highlights to date its hard not to see some serious future gold potential In you. What I do wanna see, or more so hear from is the queen cause while physical domination is impressive its only half the game. Real curiosity though is as this will be Titanias first match coming off her suspension for among many things attacking an Invicta official will she continue to go on the rampage against her original target Julia Easter, Will we get an explanation for her actions, or will Reynolds put her out of our misery. Either way on paper looks to be another solid match but I goyta side with the stronger showing. Prove me wrong Queenie.
Sheena Montgomery & Julia Easter vs. High Caliber 2: Electric Boogaloo
Winner: Sheena and jewels
Reason: Yeah ok so maybe its ego or a love to jinx myself but lets try to defend my pick by going into some detail. While Drake and Lynx are the sweet and smartass mix of a lifetime and explain that team name almost more then you might believe, and while they have been killing it while kinda being on a roller coaster career wise. This mix of star power and sass also elevates the tag team division to the center stage and while there is some part of me that doubts it will match the caliber pun intended of the Slaine and Kyu match. The need of the Hawk and Hove Connection to get on the board in the positive might just be enough mixed with a measure of pent of frustration could put them over the usual obvious pick in a Drake Connors match. But rest assure if Slaine and K don't take match of the might this might, and might prove to be another Gold Rush Spoiler or set up the need for a God Rush rematch. Ana you spoil us. Outside concerns include Titania who has been targeting Julia Easter since the premier episode of Mayhem and could try spike this particular punch.
